In this guide you will learn how to a add a Modbus controller to Leanheat® Monitor.
Before adding a Modbus controller to Leanheat® Monitor, the controller needs a connection to Leanheat® Monitor. There are two options:
Danfoss Modbus adapter software: a device (PC or other) runs the Modbus adapter software provided by Danfoss. A Modbus-TCP controller has to be on the same network as that device. A Modbus-RTU controller has to be wired directly to the device running the adapter software.
Teltonika gateway: the controller is connected through a Teltonika gateway that is configured to connect to Leanheat® Monitor.
Both options ensure a safe and secure connection between the device and Leanheat® Monitor.
It is possible to connect any device/controller communicating with either Modbus-RTU or Modbus-TCP to Leanheat® Monitor. Note that for any device other then ECL a virtual application has to be created manually by the support team and is not done automatically as is the case for ECLs.
To connect a Modbus controller, navigate to the "Admin" tab, open "Device Administration" and click "Connect" which is in the upper left corner, then select "Connect Modbus" from the list.
Select the "Gateway type", which is the way the controller is connected:
"Modbus Adapter": through the Danfoss Modbus adapter software.
"MQTT Gateway": through a Teltonika gateway.
Then select the "Gateway" the controller is connected through.
In "Connection type" choose how the controller is connected, either "Modbus TCP" or "Modbus RTU".
Modbus TCP:
For a TCP connection you have to enter the host (IP), port and the Modbus address of the device.
Modbus RTU:
For an RTU connection you have to enter the parity, baud rate, stop bits, host (device port being used) and the device Modbus address.
In the last step define the device type you are connecting. If you are connecting an ECL select "ECL" otherwise select "MODBUS".
If you are connecting a non ECL device you have to enter the name of the device, define the addressing (base 1 or base 0), a probe register and the register type (Probe register is any existing register in real device used to test the connection between device and gateway).
To finish connecting the device click "Connect" in the bottom right part of the menu.
