In this guide you will learn how to sync OPC devices.
Leanheat® Monitor reads OPC devices through an OPC gateway. Syncing is how you choose which of the devices behind that gateway Leanheat Monitor should monitor. You do this in two steps: scan the gateway so Leanheat Monitor sees what is there, then sync to pick the devices you want.
Both steps start on the Admin tab, under Device Administration.
Scan the gateway
Run a scan the first time you connect a gateway, and again whenever devices have been added, removed or renamed on the OPC server. The scan refreshes the list of devices Leanheat Monitor can see.
- Click Scan in the toolbar, next to Connect.
- Choose your gateway from the Gateway list, then click Scan.
The scan takes a few seconds. You will get a notification in the top right corner of the screen when it is done.
Sync the devices
- Click Connect and choose Sync OPC devices.
- Choose your gateway from the Gateway list, then click Sync.
- The devices found on the gateway are listed under Available devices on the left. Devices that Leanheat Monitor already monitors are listed under Devices already added on the right.
- Tick the devices you want to add on the left, then click the right arrow to move them to Devices already added.
- To stop monitoring a device, tick it on the right and click the left arrow. It moves back to Available devices.
- Click Apply.
Leanheat Monitor then shows a summary of the devices it added and removed. Click Close to finish.
Each list has a search box, which is useful when a gateway carries a lot of devices. Nothing is changed on the OPC server itself: adding and removing here only controls what Leanheat Monitor monitors.
