In this guide you will learn how to create a new consumption alarm in Leanheat Monitor.
This alarm type adds up a cumulative sensor (energy or volume) over a chosen part of the day and compares the total against the limits you set. You can alarm on consumption that is too high ("Maximum consumption") or too low ("Minimum consumption"). The total is reset for the next day.
To access alarms click on the "Alarms" tab. Here you can view active alarms, historical alarms and create new alarm rules.
To create a new "Consumption" alarm rule click on "Alarm rules" in the upper left side of the screen, click "New" and select "Consumption".
In the first step enter the alarm rule name and an optional description. On the right side choose which way the alarm should work: "Maximum consumption" triggers when the consumption rises above your limits, "Minimum consumption" triggers when it stays below them. Click "Next".
Now select the devices you want the rule to be active for. Here you can use filters to help with device selection.
In the third step choose the cumulative sensor the alarm is based on. Under "Trigger Setting" you then set the limits. There are two levels, a warning level and a critical level. A maximum consumption alarm has the fields "Warning Above" and "Critical Above", a minimum consumption alarm has "Warning Below" and "Critical Below". You do not have to use both levels, filling in one of them is enough.
On the right side you set the period the consumption is counted in. Pick the "Active days", the "From" and "To" time, and the "Timezone" those times are read in. Only consumption inside that period counts, and the total starts again from zero the next day. If the "To" time is earlier than the "From" time the period runs over midnight and finishes on the following day.
In the next step enter alarm notification recipients. You can define different recipients for different severities of the alarm, so one person can be notified only about critical alarms and another about everything. By ticking the "Resolution notification" check box the recipient will also receive a notification when the alarm is resolved.
The last step is an overview of the alarm. To finish the alarm creation click on either "Save and enable" or "Save and disable".
